Ohio State University Joins Fight vs. Teen Prescription Drug Abuse

By 4 Therapy

An Ohio State University program is geared toward helping raise awareness among students, parents and educators and to help them understand how they can stop a growing trend of teen prescription drug abuse. The OSU College of Pharmacy has partnered with area health care providers to help teach teens about the harmful effects of prescription drug abuse.

In an effort to help change this thought process the university has introduced a resource site named GenerationRx Youth Toolkit, which can help educate children on the negative aspects of abusing medication. Officials say that many teens perceive prescription drugs as safer alternatives and as less addictive than illegal narcotics such as cocaine and heroin.

The resource site is available at no cost and contains interactive presentations on the topic of prescription drug abuse.

Troubled teen programs can assist individuals who seek substance abuse help by offering education aimed at curbing their addiction and creating an environment conducive to achieving success.
